Introduction

The reason why I chose this topic for the easy is because it gives us a hope to find a cure for many people who do not only deal with the shock of finding out that they have HIV, but we could find out the medical aspects of the disease, and the social issues that affect patients with AIDS.People immune to HIV

To explain about the people immune to HIV, first we have to get clear the meaning of AIDS. The ways of contact and how this virus affect people around the entire world.

The Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome better known as AIDS is caused by the HIV virus. The name comes from the fact that HIV causes severely damages in the immune system, the body’smost important defense against diseases.

That is the cause why sufferers have very little resistance, so infections which would not normally be as severe in a healthy person can often be fatel in an AIDS victims.

The AIDS virus is extreamly small and is only visible using an electron microscope.

The AIDS virus attacks the T cells which are responsible to destroy virally infectedcells and tumor cells and are also implicated in transplant rejection, causing the human body to be susceptible to infections, it might otherwise fight off. In this case the sufferer may die from the infection, not by the disease.

This incurable sickness has affected more than thirty million people worldwide and will continue affecting millions of lives if we do not do anything to stop it.AIDS is not a disease that should be taken lightly or that should be ignored because it has been around since the early 1970's and it is taking more lives away.

AIDS does not just affect teenagers or adults it also affects millions of children worldwide and unfortunately thousands of these children have died due to this virus. Many babies are even born with HIV because their mothers areinfected.

It is sad to say that as the pass of the years the number of infected people with such virus has increased instead of decrease.

There are only three identified forms of AIDS – HIV transmission:

• The direct exposure to infected blood in this includes sharing of needles or syringes used for intravenous drugs and blood transfusions, stab objects as shaved knives.Transmission through blood transfusions is very rare today, because of the extensive testing of the nation’s blood supply. However, before testing was required, many people, especially hemophiliacs, received HIV through tainted blood.

In our country in 1995 there was one case of AIDS contact with needles infected in people who made dialysis, 21 people got HIV because of this, nowadays there are alldead.

• The sexual contact without protection is produced through genital secretions of men and women, such as pre-cum fluids, semen, vaginal secretions and period blood these are ways how infected people can easily transmit the virus to their partner’s sex.

• From an infected mother to her baby, either by childbirth or breast-feeding. It is believed that about 33 children withcarries mothers are born infected themselves.

Nowadays there are applied methods for carrier’s pregnant mothers and their children which significantly decreased the chance of transmission.

Now that we have clear the meaning, the ways of contact and the amount of people with AIDS, I can talk about the people immune to HIV.

These kind of people have a natural resistance to HumanImmunodeficiency Virus by a genetic mutation called CCR-5-delta-32 or CCR5-Δ32 or CCR5-D32.

CCR5-Δ32 is a deletion mutation of a gene that has a specific impact on the function of T cells. The allele has a negative effect upon T cell function, but appears to protect against HIV.

This allele is found in 5-14% of Europeans but is rare in Africans and Asians.
