síndicos. El Distrito Federal se divide en
delegaciones y su gobierno es ejercido
por el jefedelegacional.
Todos estos cargos tienen duración de
tres años.

Quintana Roois one of the 31 states

estados que junto con el Distrito
Federal conforman las 32 entidades
federativas de México.
Se ubica al este de la península de
Yucatán,
en
la
frontera
con
Centroamérica. Colinda con losestados
de Yucatán hacia el noroeste y
Campeche al oeste; al norte con el
golfo de México; al sur el río Hondo
delimita su frontera con Belice y unas
señales de piedra colocadas en su
sierra (Las Mojoneras) delimitan su
frontera con Guatemala. Las playas al
oriente de su territorio son bañadas
por las aguas del Mar Caribe, es por
ello que este estado es conocido en el
mundo como El "CaribeMexicano".
El estado mexicano de Quintana Roo se
encuentra dividido en diez municipios,
siete de los cuales fueron creados en
1974 conjuntamente con la elevación al
rango de Estado de la Federación del
antiguo Territorio Federal de Quintana
Roo, y el octavo, Solidaridad, fue
creado en 1993, el noveno, Tulum, en
2008, y el décimo, Bacalar,1 con
cabecera homónima.

El origen de los municipios del estado
de Quintana Roo viene de la antigua
división inicial del Territorio en tres
delgaciones, que fueron Cozumel,
Santa Cruz de Bravo (hoy Felipe Carrillo
Puerto) y Payo Obispo (hoy Chetumal).
