COSMETICS THE FUTURE MARKET

Worldwide, the cosmetic sector has shown a growth in average of 7,2% each year, being more than 24% bigger compared to 5 years ago.

According to the proexport data, a fifth of the global population is a potential segment for the cosmetic consumption. It is clear that the different regions have diversity,depending on the trade agreements. However, Colombia has good bilateral and multilateral relations that cover an important area, with some of the most important markets.

Through the following paper, it is presented the export potential of the company Wilcos SA in terms of products which contain extract of snail dribble related to skin care, through an exploratory study.

In thebeginning are taken into account a number of countries, where the virtual tool Proexport through it’s criteria lists as potential markets.
With a detailed study of the different countries where criteria such as compliance with payment, trade agreements, logistics facility and sector growth are taken into account for the market choice. The three countries that met the requirements were United States,Belgium and Chile.
Finally, the United States was determined as the target market. Aspects such as the APTDEA benefits, where the absence of taxes and the less required procedures, facilitates the exporting process and also good bilateral relations between the two countries, were crucial points at the time of selection.

Through the study it was determined the importance of segmentation, wherevariables such as climate and population density became relevant in the American context.
The process of marketing, takes into account two aspects. The first related to transport logistics, where the air routes are the most adequated due to necessary care and speed of transportation, where the supply to distributors is more simple and effective.
For the distribution channel to reach consumersdirectly, are managed four retail chains (Target, Walmart, Walgreens, Macy's) very important in the United States.

We must be aware that Supermarkets are establishments that represent the point of marketing that generates the highest benefit and the greater number of commercial transactions. This last step is strictly necessary for the success in the trading strategy
