Welcome to UPPER ELEMENTARY 1. In this level you are going to be able to develop skills in: grammar, pronunciation and listening. This text supports you in vocabulary and exercises to improve the language.

The examples and the exercises were taken to be used in a daily common conversation. Classroom activities: 1. This book is going to be used in class, you must print it and keep theenglish book to the class. 2. Inside this book you will find homework activities, you must print them and do them in hand. 3. Spots aren’t allowed in the homework. 4. The student is responsible to read the book before each lesson. 5. The student has to give the homework for each week before the class. 6. Is NOT allowed homework made in computer.

Use the Present Continuous with Normal Verbs to express the idea that something is happening now, at this very moment. It can also be used to show that something is not happening now. Examples:

Why aren't you doing your homework?

USE 2 Longer Actions in Progress Now

In English, "now" can mean: this second, today, this month, this year, this century, and so on.Sometimes, we use the Present Continuous to say that we are in the process of doing a longer action which is in progress; however, we might not be doing it at this exact second. Examples: (All of these sentences can be said while eating dinner in a restaurant.)


I am studying to become a doctor.



I am not studying to become a dentist.
