Plantas Carnívoras

Carnivorous plants are fed through the capture and consumption of animals, especially insects, but also small animals and fish.


Each species has its tricks to attract their prey, andthey need that kind of power to compensate for poor nutrition in soils with low nitrogen.
To be considered carnivorous plants requires three criteria:
-Attract prey (smell, nectar, etc.)
-Trap:active traps (tongs) or passive (trumpets)
-Digest, by themselves or by symbiotic bacteria.

Size from 1cm to 3 m.. (Nepenthes can measure up to 10 m!)



Types of carnivorous plants:
-WithTweezers: Venus Flytrap / Aldrovanda vesicular
The insect lands on the leaf of the plant, attracted by a sweet nectar, and brushing the hair shirts detectors, closes trapping the prey. The spines of thesheet edges prevent the escape
Once digested the insect, the leaf stem emerges out to write a new one and repeat the process.
Sticky-hairy,
Drosera, with rosette leaves that secrete a viscous fluidthat attracts insects and trapped .
There are 194 species of this class, spread throughout the world, except Antarctica
Byblis, only 6 species discovered since 1808 by area of northwest Australiaand Indonesia
Drosophyluum, with leaves of 25 cm and funky edges where insects are trapped .
They are found in Spain, Portugal and northern Morocco, on sandy and rocky.
-Pinguicula, there areabout 80 species.
They have small leaves covered with sticky hairs that secrete a sticky fluid that traps prey. A second type of gland secretes digestive acids and enzymes to dissolve the hard parts ofthe insect to digest nutrients.
They live in colonies near small streams in Central America, especially Mexico, and Europe. Not exist in Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania
