Politeness and interaction are concepts that should be always veryattached to one another, as very close brothers. Politeness helps to fortify and make better the relationship and the interaction among people. The everyday interaction helps us to develop andimprove social politeness skills that are crucial and necessary in the use of communication strategies. But, what is politeness exactly? According to Yule (2002), “politeness in an interaction can bedefined as the means employed to show awareness for another person’s face.” This definition requires the explanation of another concept (face) of the crucial importance in politeness study andunderstanding. Yule (2002) writes “face refers to our emotional and social sense of self that everyone has and expects everyone else to recognize”. More important to define politeness is the study and descriptionof different strategies human beings use to be polite. Brown & Levinson (1987) describe four types of politeness strategies that sum up human politeness behavior. These are bald on-record strategy,positive politeness, negative politeness and off-record. Bald on-record strategy is said to be used when the speaker makes no attempt to minimize the threat to the other person’s face. In positivepoliteness the speaker recognizes the friendliness in the relationship with the listener or listeners and their desire to be respected.
