In Chile those who have been rewarded by the prize nobel of literature are Gabriela Mistral and Paul Neruda.
According to Alfred Nobel the prize must be granted anually "to whom it has produced in the field of the literature the most out-standing work, in the ideal direction ". The institution entrusted to select the winner is the Swedish Academy and is granted on thefirst Thursday of October of every year.

Ricardo Neftalí Reyes Basoalto was born On July 12, 1904 in the city of Vine arbor (the VIIth region), Chile. Nowadays known withPaul Neruda's pseudonym.
