Wheel history and parts
History:
In 1888, the Scottish veterinarian and inventor, John Boyd Dunlop developed the first tire with air for the tricycle thather nine-year-old used to go to school for the bumpy streets of Belfast. To solve the problem of chattering, Dunlop rubber tubes inflated with an air pumpto inflate balloons. After the rubber tubes wrapped with a tarp to protect them and stuck them on the rims of the wheels of the tricycle. Until then, thewheels were most solid rubber tires, tires but allowed a noticeably smoother motion. He developed the idea and patented the pneumatic chamber on December 7,1889. However, two years after being granted the patent Dunlop was officially informed that the patent was invalidated by the Scottish inventor Robert WilliamThomson, who had patented the idea in France in 1847 and in the U.S. in 1891.1 Dunlop won a battle against Robert William Thomson legal and successfullydefended its patent.
