PROJECT WORK

THEME: ANIMALS AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS OF THE FARM

Why agricultural products and farm animals are essential for human life?



INTRODUCTION

This project is designed to implement teaching strategies to lead second cycle elementary school students recognize the importance of animals and agricultural products from the farm, and to appreciatethe benefits and profits they bring to humans.

We want to implement the CLIL methodology to integrate content from various areas of knowledge using English expressions.

This project will be performed with the third grade girls of the “Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño” school and fourth grade students from “Carlos Holguin” school and Compartir Recuerdo School.



JUSTIFICATIONThe execution of this work arises from the need to guide and stimulate the learning process of English in public schools in Bogota, because since 2005 the District government, according to agreement # 364 projects, sought to promote a "Bilingual Bogota in ten years". As well as the sector plan 2004-2008 included "strengthening of a second language" (bilingualism) to form competent peopleresponding to a globalized world.

.For this reason the district education secretary, in agreement with the Institute of Languages ​​of the University District promoted the implementation of a training English course for teachers who like to be qualified.



GENERAL OBJETIVE

To recognize the Importance of animals and agricultural products from the farm and the benefits they provide tohumans.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

1-To describe the farm animals and to classify the farm animals.

2– To explain the usefulness farm animals provide to people.

3 - To Identify the agricultural products of the farm and understand the importance of agricultural products for humans.

4-Encourage learning English through artistic and recreational activities, integrating content fromdifferent subjects in the curriculum of grades of the cycle second.



THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

THE FARM ANIMALS

The farm animals are those that live near people and provide beneficial.

They are. The cow, hen, rooster, chicks, horse, rabbit, sheep, duck, pig, donkey, dog, cat.

CLASSIFICATION OF THE FARM ANIMALS IN BIRDS AND MAMMALS



1 - BIRDS: hens, rooster, duck, chicks.These animals have feathers, two legs and two wings.

These animals provide meat and eggs



2 –MAMMALS: rabbit cow, horse, sheep, pig, dog, cat, goat, ass.

These animals have fur and four legs.

The cow and the goat provide milk, meat and leather to make shoes, jackets and bags.

The sheep provide wool and meat

The rabbit and pork meat provided

The horse and the donkey areused as transportation

The company serves dog is a pet

The cat is pet and away the mouses



STUDENTS PROFILE

This work will be done with 37 girls of third grade and 70 students of grade fourth of elementary school their aged between 8 and 10 years old.

These students are characterized by their interest in learning new things with recreational and artistic activities. Someof them are very responsible and like to work.

They are respectful and friendly, also they are good companions.



CLIL THEORY

CLIL stand for Content and Language Integrated Learning, it means that teachers work English in class from topics of their subjects. The ILUD (Instituto de lenguas of Distrital University) prepares teachers of the Bilingual Schools so that they could be ableto teach their students with CLIL methodology this is a politic of government.

A powerful pedagogic tool which aims to safeguard the subject being taught whilst promoting language as a medium for learning as well as an objective of the learning process itself (Coyle in Marsh 2002:37)
