Context of Mexican Population
Around the year 2000 the total population in the country exceeded 97 millions. According to a census realized in that same year, 51.2% of the population are women and48.8% are men. Under these bases, 33.4% are children under the age of 15.
PULBIC HEALTH OBJECTIVES
1. Improve the health conditions of Mexicans
2. Reduce inequalities in health
3. Guaranteeadequate treatment in public and private health services
4. Ensure justice in health financing
5. Strengthen the National Health System, especially its public institutions

In our country we cannumerate the following governmental agencies dedicated to public health:
• National Institute of Public Health
• IMSS (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social)
• ISSTE
• La Secretaria de Salud
• SistemaNacional de Información en salud

The National Institute of Public Health is a government based institution that is compromised to solve daily public demands that are principally oriented on thepublic health sector. Its principal objective is to contribute in the enhancement of the public health conditions. This requires to reduce social inequalities and to be able to reach to marginatedcommunities, etc.
73% of all deaths in our country are related to non transmissible diseases such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular problems or cancer. Around 15% of the diseases are caused by commoninfections, lack of nutrition etc., and 11% result of normal injuries. All these require a complex attention due to the necessity of specialist medics.
The IMSS (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social) isbased on the 123rd article of the Mexican Constitution. Its mission is to be an instrument of social security, established as a public organization that can be available for all workers and theirfamilies. Its finality is to be able to provide the right to health, medical assistance, and necessary services for well being to all active workers.
