Nowadays, there are new technologies that could help teachers to make better and creative classes. But, there are some pros and cons which we, as English teacher have to take into account when we aregoing to teach a new language.
There are some teachers that would like to teach a new language, helped by different ways especially by technologies. Those technologies, might be a great method toteach another language and students will have different interaction with English learning in contrast when they are learning helped by some books or worksheets
However, there are some teachers, whothink that teaching a new language helped by CALLs is a waste of time. Some of them just use the CALL to create some worksheets for the class or investigate some activities to do with their students. Butthey don’t like to use it into the classroom because they don’t feel confident using new technologies when they are going to teach.
Moreover, we can find a lot of difficulties when we are going toteach through those kinds of tools. For instance, the interaction between CALL and the classroom, make those teachers, who are willing to integrate new technologies in their classroom, feel that theircoursework that they had learned, couldn’t be integrated with the reality in their classes.
On the other hand, there are teachers who would like to work with different methods, for instance, usingnew technologies, but the school doesn’t have the enough resources to implement those kinds of tools. Some pressures we can find both outside and during class such as, lack of resources or materials,insufficient of flexible guidelines, standards and curricula, lack of support or recognition for integrating computers. Furthermore there are others factors that may influence technology use such asage, gender, attitudes toward technology and teaching experience.
