Is gun control adequately regulated?

One of the biggest and controversial problems in the state of Texas is without a doubt gun control regulation. Thisresearch paper focuses on the need to regulate the possession of firearms and how this problem has been growing in the past years. The lack of interest of some politicians to legislate on gun control,as well as the pressure from the gun and ammunition industry has contributed to the indiscriminate proliferation of weapons in our streets. It seems like our politicians and representatives are notconcerned about the safety of the citizens. Some efforts like the one form the mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, who asked the presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney during aninterview last week to include in their campaigns a debate on firearm regulation and possession (Siddiqui). “Maybe it’s time that the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tellus what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country” (Horgan) told Michael Bloomberg to the presidential candidates during an interview.
According toIshtar Archer from The Violence Police Center, it is estimated that around 30,000 people die in America every year because of incidents related to firearms, this include homicides, suicides, and accidents(Archer). It is imperative that people interested in directing the path that any city, state, or the nation start proposing and implementing measurements towards gun control matters.
Texas is oneof the states with more lenient law on gun control. Any person 18 years old and older can possess a firearm in Texas and the individual is not required to register a weapon and an owner’s license isnot required.
