Resumen digestive system
ALIMENTARY CANAL A tube which runs from mouth to anus. Known as DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Salivary glands
ACSESSORY GLANDS: are going to help digest the food passing throughthe alimentary canal
Liver
Páncreas
PROCESS OF NUTRITION DIVEDED IN:
* INGESTION process of taking in food into the alimentary canal
* DIGESTIONbreakdown of food into smaller pieces and smaller molecules (in order to be able to absorb it)
* ABSORPTION process of incorporating digested food into the blood
* elimination ofundigested food
ASSIMILATION incorporation of nutrients into the cell
* EGESTION
PARTS OF YOUR BODY INVOLVED IN EACH STAGES:
INGESTION:
MOUTH:
* TOUNGE: (sense of taste)moves the food around in your mouth
* TEETH: bite off a piece of food
* SALIVA: contains water, mucus and enzymes. It dissolves some food and lubricates
* Physical break down of largepieces of food into smaller pieces (chewing food breaks down food)
SWALLOWING: the tounge helps push the food to the back of the mouth
DIGESTION: MECHANICAL:
Break down of large molecules intosmaller molecules by ENZYMES
CHEMICAL:
MOUTH:
* TEETH: chew and grind food into smaller pieces and help from the bolus it will be swallowed
* SALIVA: containssalivary amylase which begins the breakdown of starch into maltose. Amylase may act in the mouth and on its way down to OSEOPHAGUS to the STOMACH
* STOMACH: produces gastric juices which containHYDROCOLIC ACIDS and the enzyme PEPSIN, which is a protease. The hydrocolic acid provides an acid environment (PH2) for the enzyme to function properly and bills bacteria in the food.
* SMALLINTESTINE (DUODENUM): Produces a series of enzymes which are not secreted into the LUMEN and couplete the breakdown food
Duodenum recives fuids from:
Does not contain enzymes (CONTAINS SALTS)...
