The Egypt Effect
For those who do not know what is the Egyptian revolution, it was a protest that thepeople of Egypt to take down the government of Hosni Mubarak. The acts of protests featured acts of civil disobedience, labor strikes, and violent clashes between protestors and security services andalso Mubarak´s supporters. In this work I will explain what is happening in Egypt and why, I will also talk about some cases of corruption and other countries that are in protests, also some stuff youprobably didn´t knew.
The people got sick of the consequences of the corruption in the government of Hosni Mubarak, some of the consequences include police brutality, state of emergency laws, lackof free elections and freedom of speech, and it also affected the economy in high inflation of food prices, high unemployment and low minimum wages. What they wanted from these protests is putting anend of Mubarak´s government, getting rid of the emergency law, freedom, justice and a non responsive military government.
This Egyptian revolution influenced other countries to protest against theirgovernments, which are Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, Libya and others.
Hosni´s Mubarak government started in 1981 after the death of Anwar Sadat, Anwar Sadat was the third president of Egypt sincethe revolution of 1952, he was being considered a stupid president that could be easily manipulated, those who thought that were really wrong, he changed Egypt´s government direction departing fromsome of the economic and political principles of nasserism by re-instituting the multi-party system and launching the Infitah. He engaged negotiations with Israel and got a peace treaty. Hisassassination is rumored to be a conspiracy from the Egypt government because in his assassination vice-president Hosni Mubarak got in the power for more than 30 years and restored the emergency law.
