Self Reflection On Religion

SELF REFLECTION ON RELIGION
Where I am from, the fact of talking about people’s religious practices has always been a question that everyone has always tried to avoid when keeping a conversation. Inthe most of the European countries, the concept of religion itself seems to imply touching one’s beliefs and values, what can be considered as a way of being judged, that is why I would not name itreligion to what I believe in, but a set of values that I have been offered since being a child, and by which I have developed my entire personality. In this report, I will proceed to show how thesementioned values are important in my life, as well as what impact they have in the way I live my daily life.
As a background of my own reflection, I will show the type of society I com from, as well aswhat my family’s beliefs consist of. As I already mentioned above, in the society where I come from, a society where Christianity has played an important role in history, and where nowadays apost-Christianity is being suffered in some way, it is quite hard declaring that you believe in God, as a christian. People will refuse to hear that you believe in a God who saved your soul, and by whom youlive your life. In this context, my family, from both my father and my mother’s side, has been non catholic Christian, having our origins in Germany, where Protestantism had such a great importanceduring its origins. Having been this stated, it would be easy to predict what my orientation would be regarding religious beliefs. As usually, children will end up believing what their parents or familyin general believe in, and teach them. However, my parents always tried to respect our self criteria regarding religious beliefs, by just giving us, my two sisters and I, the freedom of choice. Theyjust wanted to show us what they believed in, why they believed in that, and how it would affect our lives. After we really understood that, we would be free to choose
