A pulley is a simple machine that uses grooved wheels and a rope to raise, lower or move a load. A belt and pulley system is characterized by two or more pulleys in common to a belt. This allows formechanical power, torque, and speed to be transmitted across axles and, if the pulleys are of differing diameters, a mechanical advantage to be realized. Pulleys 2. Lever - Enchanted Learninganimations A lever is a stiff bar that rests on a support called a fulcrum which lifts or moves loads. n physics, a lever (from French lever, "to raise", c.f. a levant) is a rigid object that is usedwith an appropriate fulcrum or pivot point to either multiply the mechanical force (effort) that can be applied to another object or resistance force (load), or multiply the distance and speed atwhich the opposite end of the rigid object travels. This leverage is also termed mechanical advantage, and is one example of the principle of moments. A lever is one of the six simple machines. Levers3. Wedge - pictures using LEGO bricks A wedge is an object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge, which cuts material apart. In solid geometry, a wedge is a polyhedron defined bytwo triangles and three trapezoid faces. A wedge has five faces, nine edges, and six vertices. A wedge is a subclass of the prismatoids with the base and opposite ridge in two parallel planes. A wedgecan also be classified as a digonal cupola. Wedges 4. Wheel & Axle - Activity using pencils and thread spools A wheel with a rod, called an axle, through its center lifts or moves loads. Awheel is a device that is capable of rotating on an axle through its center, facilitating movement or transportation while supporting a load (mass), or performing labor in machines. Common examples foundin transport applications. A wheel, together with an axle, overcomes friction by facilitating motion by rolling. In order for wheels to rotate, a moment needs to be applied to the wheel about its...
