Subject: Activity memo
Just before the semester started, I was invited to anIslamic Ramadan dinner at the walb union. I was very surprised that they knew I was a Muslim. As a Muslim, I am supposed to be fasting one month each year, but this year I decided not to fast for somepersonal reasons. When I recivied that invitation called “ A taste of Ramadan” I hesitated a lot when I made my decision on going to the event because I thought everyone should be fasting and I amgoing to be the only one who is not.
As we arrived to the event (on time) I was very surprised to find that we were the first people there, besides the people who were doing the decoration. To killtime, me and my friend walked around and took a look at the Islamic/Arabic beautiful art work and listen to the Islamic music by Sami Yusuf.
Fifteen minutes after the event starting time, everyone whowas invited started to show up. I happen to know most of the people that were in the event. I was very surprised they actually attend IPFW. There were also non-Muslim people who were attending thedinner as well as well as Muslims who were not fasting, which made me feel good about myself because I wasn’t the only one there who wasn’t fasting.
When everyone was seated at their one assigned table,the speaker was professionally introduced to the patio start his speech. The speaker started his speech with some very interesting historical facts for the first 10 minutes, and then it wentdownhill from there. The speaker then started talking about the whole Islamic history for two hours. I happen to know everything that he talked about. My friends and I found the speech very boring andeveryone couldn’t wait until he finishes his speech so we can start eating.
Finally the sunset prayer brought an end to his speech and everyone who was fasting broke their fast and went to pray. After...
