Quentin Tarantino
Biography:
He was norn in 1963 in Knoxville. He’s an american film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer and actor. In the 1990’s he was an independentfilmmaker whose Films used nonlinear storylines and a esthelicization of violence. Total film named him the 12th greatest director of all time.
We’re going to show you the most relevant aspectsin his Films comparing 2 of them: kill bill and pupl fiction.
Well, firstly we want to say that his style is very special. He had never do a realism film so we can say that he is formalist.By exploting this limitations film makers can present a unique -a specially filmic- vison of the world. It’s this unique vision of the world, made possible by films’ specific properties(editing, …) that distinguishes film from the others arts and define film as an art. For the formalist, like Tarantino, film is an art because it’s specific properties which present it from imitatingreality, can be exploied by directors to express the vision. He used specific film technics like editing, montage, fast and slow motion and low and high camera angles. His films wants to showthe most violent parto f humans with a little bito f humour. He film the themes like a manga comic.
The most important diference between Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill is the tipe of violence. Inthe first one the violence is more credible, and in the second one the violence seems a manga comic (for example the blood efects are surrealists and not credible). In Pulp Fiction thestructure and the dialogues are better executed than Kill Bill that is an accion film movie.
We can say that the two films are different, but there are also similar things for example the twomovies contain elements that are an homage to others films.
Each one of us choose a scene which is represantive of his films to analize it, and explain the most important aesthetic aspects of it.
