The Golden Goose (SUMMARY)
There was a man who had 3 sons. The youngest one was called Dummling.
One day, the oldest wanted to go into the forest to cut wood, and before he went, his mom gave himea piece of cake and a bottle of wine if he felt hungry or thirsty.
When he entered the forest, he met a little old man who told him -"Do you give mi a piece of cake and a drink of your bottle,please? I am really hungry and thirsty.", but the clever son said he wouldn´t have anymore food for himself. But when this so was cutting down a tree, he made a false-stroke with the axe and cut his arm.And this was made by the little old man.
After, the second son went to the forest, and his mom gave him a piece of cake and a bottle of wine, like the first son. The old man met him and asked the samequestion, but he, like his brother, said he wouldn´t have anything to eat then. His punishment was that a big tree called in his leg.
Then Dummling asked his father if he could go and cut wood, buthis father´s answer was no. Dummling begged so long that his father said -"Okay, just go then." His mother gave him a piece of cake and a bottle of sour beer.
When he went to the forest, he met thelittle old man likewise, and the old man asked the same question: "Do you give mi a piece of cake and a drink of your bottle, please? I am really hungry and thirsty." Dummling said yes, so they sat downand ate and drank, and after that, the little old man said- "Since you have a good heart and divide what you have, I will give you good luck. There stands an old tree, cut it down and you will findsomething at the roots." Then the liftle man disappeared.
Dummling did exactly what the old man said, and when the tree fell, there was a goose sitting with feathers of pure gold.
DESCRIPTION OFTHE CHARACTERS: Dummling: he is generous and the youngest one. First Son an Second Son: They are selfish and only think of themselves. Little Old Man: he is fair with the people who are good or bad....
