The Hidden Woman
The story’s point-of-view is inthird person omniscient, but at the same time, we know what is occurring in some parts through what the husband is watching. We know how the husband feels and think, and we know that the Pierrot isher wife, because he thinks she is her wife. He is the one analyzing the entire situation and carrying us to think she is the wife. If the story was narrated in another way, maybe we can infer otherthings. The story point-of-view influences us to think what the husband is thinking, and we related all the things that happens in the story to the wife, without even thinking that the cough or thegolden flat box, that make clear the identity of the Pierrot to the husband, were only decryptions or things without importance.
The husband’s interpretation of the Pierrot and the way he reacts whenhe knew she was her wife tell us so much about the husband. First of all, it tells us that the husband is an intelligent man. We know he is a doctor, so we can infer he must be intelligent, but the wayhe watch carefully every detail and analyze it, and he did not miss anything, we infer he is an analyzing and intelligent person.
