A Critical Review of Wake, J., Dysthe, O. y Mjelstad, S. (2007), New and Changing Teacher Roles in Higher Education in a Digital Age. Educational Technology & Society, 10 (1), 40-51

In the last two decades, the innovation technology has become the most important factor in Higher Education development.For this reason, nowadays the methods of teaching and strategies of teaching have had a significant change. In terms of education, the technology development has considerably contributed in the innovation of new tools to apprenticeship, such as, platforms of learning, virtual maps and education webs. Moreover, this contribution is represented by digital advance equipment through technologicalinnovation particularly in audio and video. According to Wake, J. D., Dysthe, O., & Mjelstad, S. (2007), twenty years ago the University of Bergen innovated with the new Digital Culture through a platform of education called Kark. At present, Kark is a modern and cooperative learning support system that essentially used by the University of Bergen, as a tool to enhance Learning activities andthinking in the advantages of process of education of its students. (Wake, J. D., Dysthe, O., & Mjelstad, S. 2007). This paper evaluate to Wake, J. D., Dysthe, O., & Mjelstad, S. (2007) through Biggs, J. & Tang, C. (2007) Teaching for Quality Learning at University and Tennant et al (2010). Particularly I shall agree with the author, for this reason this evaluation confirms which thissystem has incorporated different roles for teachers and also has provided the introduction of new teaching approaches or tools to train with the new digital culture.

This article analyses significant effects of the innovation of new technologies in higher education which improvement the quality of learning. Using Wake, J. D., Dysthe, O., and Mjelstad, S. (2007), this critical essay supports twospecial aspects: First, this educational impact has produced new demands on the tasks and responsibilities of the teacher also this evolution demands the introduction of different technology tools and new Teaching Strategies. (Wake, J. D., Dysthe, O., & Mjelstad, S. 2007).

In terms of technological innovation in the education area, the transformation of the role of university professor inthe digital age has to consider issues closely related to new learning methodologies and the innovation of techniques of teaching. It is, therefore, evident that role to be played by the teacher will have to undergo a radical change compared to what has traditionally exercised.
