THE ISLAM RELIGION

The Islamic religion began in the city of Mecca, in Arabia with the prophet Muhammad. His beliefs and revelations from God are written down in the Koran (Holy Book), so that hisfollowers can practice his teachings during their lifetime. The people that follow his principles are called Muslims. They recognized Muhammad as a messenger of Allah (God) and they require toaccomplish acts of faith which are established by Muhammad on the Five Pillars of Islam which are: declaration of faith, praying 5 times a day, fasting during the month of Ramadan, giving charity to thosewho are poor and sick, and making the pilgrim to Mecca. The Islamic religion is a complete way of life and obedience to God’s will that Muslims need to put into practice in every aspect of their life.THE ANIMALS OF THE ISLAM
The Islam history shows that animals played an important role in their life and culture. Their religious book, Koran, established kindness to animal as part oftheir faith since they are part of God creation .It also prohibits to eat meat of animals who had died as a result of natural causes, fight or slaughtered by a non Muslim. They also use animals tohelp them in carry heavy loads, to trade their goods, to plow the fields and for irrigation .The most important animal was the camel called “gift of God” and “ship of the desert,” they have the capacityto travel long distances, helping people carrying their goods, without taking food and water for long period of time, thanks to the humps on its back. It is common that, in the celebration of theirreligious holidays, and in the birth of a new baby, they sacrifice animals such as the sheep and goats. In the region of North Africa exists a great variety of wild animals “hard” to find in other partsof the world.
