The renaissance
Italy´s important cities during it:
* Milan= Francesco Storga. Had a group of mechanist, who helped him to control the city, he increased taxes making Milan rich.
* Venice=important because its geography and the trading they had with Asia.
* Florence= wealthy cause their wars with states, ruled by the Medici, people get tiered of them cause their exes of money.Italian wars.
Started when Europe knew the wealthy of Italy.
* French king Charles the VIII conquered Napoles.
* States in north asked for helped to Spain.
* Spain sent armies to Italy.* Spain and France were fighting in Italy.
* Spain makes a sack in Rome.
Nicolas Machiavelli.
* Write the Prince, that was a book in which he said how to acquire and keep political power* He said that in government or a ruler most not follow moral rules.
* He was a thinker that thought that the moral had nothing to do with the politics.
* He thought that the human was eviland selfish by nature.
Renaissance Society
Divided in 3:
° Nobles= Posed most of the land and dominated society.
Castiglione: wrote a book in which he shows what a noble should have:* A noble was born not made.
* Should develop the physical exercise and being in the military.
* Follow specific rules of conduct: studding rime Greek cultures, their goal should be servethe king.
° Townspeople = live in the cities, merchants artisans. Among townspeople were:
Patricians
Workers.
Burghers
° Peasants= worked in fields, didn´t own the land, butpaid rent for it, a lot of them got their freedom.
Family and Marriage.
Father-Husband was the most important person in family. Looked for good husbands to their daughters, they were supposed to give adowry, and decisions were made by him.
The intellectual and artistic renaissance
Humanism= study grammar, rhetoric poetry, moral philosophy and history. It focused on civic life:
