The Roag Coat

Plot

The story is about a very poor family made up of: the mother, father, and two daughters: Clemmie and Minna. Minna was a girl who longed to have a coat for winter times. Her father was a manwho worked in the coal mines which could rarely see the light of the sun to get home.
One day his father was ill, Minna's mother had to take control of the home and worked day and night to bringfood to her home. One day Minna's father asked her to go to school that there could learn many new things, but she did not want to go because she did not want to leave his mother without help andclaimed not to have a coat to go to school, her father said, "Do not worry, I'll think about something to do”. But that day never came because her father died that summer.
Minna went to school, he wantedto have a coat like that of Joseph, his partner, Mrs. Miller saw her and said they were going to get one with the help of mothers of school, with the Quilting Mothers as Minna told them. School timeto Minna was not always good, her partners were doing jokes about her but her teachers always made her feel a little better. At school there was a day called "The Sharing Day", in which everyone woresomething with special meaning, but yet was not the turn of Minna.

Finally, her coat was done, it was so beautiful and “the Quilting Mothers”, had finished it in time for her sharing day. When Minnatook his new coat to class all made fun of her and called "The Rag Coat", his teacher knew what happened and her classmates apologized to Minna, she let them touch her new coat and told the storieshad behind each part of cloth of her coat. She lives happy with her sister and her Mom. But her father always be in her heart.
