The symbol of the bird
The bird is the most importantsymbol in the play. As we know birds are forced to live in cages, just as Minnie Wright was forced to live. Her husband takes away all her freedom. That is why the bird is the most important symbolof the play because it represents exactly how Minnie Wright was living. The bird represents how she felt. She lived without liberty because she was unable to do something to be free of her "cage", justexactly like the bird. She accepted the way she had to live just as the birds. They do not choose live in a cage, we are the ones who put them in the cage but them really born to be free like thewind. The bird was the only company and “friend” for Minnie Wright, the bird helped her to get distracted and be neutral with the situation she was living. Minnie Wright did not care about the situationanymore because she had the most important thing for her which was the bird. She passed all her time with the bird. The bird was her “safe” place and also the bird maybe was like a child for MinnieWright. The bird is symbolic because it also helps to solve the case of John Wright murder.
