Theories of first language acquisition

Nowadays, there are a lot of theories about language acquisition. Each of those theories provides help to understand the process of getting the languagemother tongue. However, they also have some challenges which need to be taken into account. I my opinion the different approaches of language acquisition contribute with the child´s successfully languagelearning.
One of the most recognize theories of language acquisition is the behavioral approach. As duglas said: ¨if a particular response is reinforced, it then becomes habitual or conditionedwhich means we can direct their learning process by a stimuli, this theory was created by skinner and it made a lot of contributions to education, however it becomes a extrinsic motivation which pressstudents to learn while the stimuli exist, it means that when there is not any reinforce it does not work correctly.
Another viewpoint refers to the nativist approach, which claims that we are bornwith some genetic information that let us learn a language. According to duglas a child does not learn a language in a structuralize way, in contrast, they get it in a integrate system. Theacquirement of a language is affective by the environment, it means that ¨language is one of the cognitive and effective ability to deal with the world¨.
Despite of the differences those theories have, theyaccept or are in agreement with the critical period hypothesis, as duglass defined it: ¨a biologically determined period of life when language can be acquire more easily¨. Douglas said it is abiological timetable when the child brain is creating some neuronal connections in order to obtain and keep information. Of course the knowledge acquisition depends on the interaction the child have with theenvironment.
