THAT IS A TORNADO

Simply tell a tornado is a rotating column of air extending from violently and a cumulonimbus base to the ground.

Is associated with an intense storm activity and is one ofthe most destructive of nature, capable of generating winds of up to 480 km / h, in extreme cases. Most tornadoes moving about 50 km / h, do not last more than a few minutes on the floor and leavetraces of its devastating power, having fifty meters wide.

The ingredients of a cumulonimbus tornado generator are: a burst warm southern air very humid, with a blast of cool, dry air from the west atthe top and a squall line convective clouds whose convergence trigger.

Usually, but not always, tornadoes moving in a southwest-northeast direction. The funnel goes from the clouds to the ground,becoming visible as moist air moves into the region in which the pressure decreases sharply and condensed, and as the vortex sucks the soil remains.

Times when tornadoes form

Tornadoesgenerally occur in the transition zone between air masses of polar and tropical, between 20: and 50: latitude, on both sides of Ecuador, still rare at latitudes above 60: where air does notcontain humidity and temperature necessary for the formation of this fensmeno and in the equatorial region, where the atmosphere has no instability needed to develop a severe storm of this magnitude.

Whiletornadoes can occur throughout most of the year, there is a marked seasonal variation that differs from country and place, and its occurrence during summer maxima in the midlatitudes (June, July and August).In the first part of aqo, March and April are more common near the Gulf Coast of Mexico.As of the year progresses, the center of the region of greatest tornado formation moves further north of theUnited States, the reason for this shift is related to the movement in the same direction of the air masses associated with the development of tornadoes.
