1. A brief description of how hospitality and transport sectors have developed historically.

* TRANSPORT

Travel has become quicker and easier for Dundonians over the past 200 years.
People are able to travel by train instead of a horseback, by plane instead of by boat and by car, bus and bicycle as wellas on foot.
The first method of transport were carts, stagecoach, trams, buses and motor vehicles for journeys and long travels in basic roads. Later, transport was developing and rail travel was popular with local people. Rail companies introduced affordable day trips and special trains to holiday destinations, and passenger numbers increased. Trains were also important for transporting goodseasily to and from the surrounding countryside. As the same time, Dundee developed into an international significant port and in the development of steam ships. The River Tay was especially important for shipbuilding, whaling and the textile industry. Dundee ships have sailed the world, transport goods and carrying passengers. Today the river is not as important as it once was.
Dundonians havetravelled by sea and river for generations, but since the opening of the Tay Road Bridge in 1966, ferries stopped it.
Aircrafts technology had also started to develop in seaplanes and, nowadays, Dundee airport has grown into a modern terminal building, able to accommodate and ever-increasing number of flights.

* HOSPITALITY

Existing industries of lodging are the result of social andcultural evolution of many centuries. The comfortable accommodation, toilet once was considered the exclusive privilege of the wealthy, but became accessible to ordinary citizens. Progress in transportation allowed more people to travel longer distances at a lower cost, and tourism development around the globe. From its humble beginnings, the hospitality and tourism grew into the two largestindustries worldwide. Currently, the hospitality industry is complex and diverse. From the inns of Biblical times to the modern resort complexes, evolution of the establishment for lodging has influenced and in turn has been influenced by, the social, cultural, economic and political society. Nowadays, you can find a huge range of different types of accommodation and catering to suit all prices andtastes (B&B, guesthouse, castles...).
