United Nations

1. The UN is an organization that represents nation states and helps resolve conflicts between its members. On the other hand, the UNPO is an organization that represents groups that are not nationstates, solely represents what it stands for, Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organizations.
2. We have selected the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) and the Ogaden NationalLiberal Front as our top two we would recommend for file. We choose the UDMR because these ethnic Hungarians once lived in their home country but it was given to Romania and without a choice their homeswere now in another country. We also choose the Ogaden National Liberal Front because they receive funding from multiple different nations so they already have access and relations with other countries,therefore making them more advanced then our other options.
3. UDMR- After World War I part of Hungary was given to Romania, specifically the area of Transylvania. The citizens of this city werenative Hungarians but were forced to become part of Romania. The Romanians have treated them with little respect and have even performed ethnic cleansing on some. Though the ethnic Hungarians(Magyars) have incorporated themselves into the Romanian Parliament, they are still not totally accepted by them. The Magyars living in Romania have the option of working in Hungary and gaining all thebenefits of Hungarian citizens, but the Romanians do not want this to continue because they feel all people in Romania should be equal, even though the Magyars are not. This is why we would recommend theUDMR for file.

The Ogaden National Liberation Front, which was founded in 1984, is a product of the 1977 Ogaden War. Somalia and Ethiopia were fighting over this region of Ogaden at this time.Somalia eventually retreated, leaving many Somali people in this region.
