The Company is engaged in the secure electronic payment solutions. It provides solutions, and services for the financial, retail, hospitality, petroleum, transportation, government, and healthcare vertical markets. Its system solutions consist of point ofsale (POS) electronic payment devices that run its and third-party operating systems, security and encryption software, and certified payment software, as well as other third-party value-added applications. Its system solutions are able to process a range of payment types. They include signature and personal identification number (PIN)-based debit cards, credit cards, contactless/radio frequencyidentification (RFID) cards and tokens, Near Field Communication (NFC), enabled mobile phones, smart cards, pre-paid gift and other stored-value cards, electronic bill payment, check authorization and conversion, signature capture, and electronic benefits transfer (EBT). Its electronic payment systems are available in several modular configurations, offering its support to a range of connectivityoptions, including wireline and wireless Internet protocol (IP) technologies. It also offers customers support for installed systems, consulting and project management services for system deployment, and customization of integrated software solutions. It is engaged in the development of the Secure Point of Sale Vendor Alliance (SPVA). In June 2011, it acquired Destiny Electronic Commerce (Pty) Ltd. InAugust 2011, the Company acquired Hypercom Corporation. On November 1, 2011, it acquired Global Bay Mobile Technologies. In January 2012, the Company acquired Point. In March 2012, the Company acquired LIFT Retail Marketing Technology, Inc.
The SPVA is a non-profit organization that works with stakeholders in the payment value chain. The SPVA is open to participation from all POS vendors engagedin developing secure payment systems, as well as other businesses that interact with these payment system vendors. The SPVA is focused on developing standards for secure, end-to-end encryption systems and developing standards for the secure management of payment devices through their lifecycle, from manufacturing, to deployment, to operation and repair and ultimately to removal from service. Itscustomers are financial institutions, payment processors, petroleum companies, large retailers, government organizations, and healthcare companies, as well as independent sales organizations (ISO). The Company operates in two business segments: North America and International. The Company’s countertop electronic payment systems accept magnetic, smart card, and contactless/RFID cards and support credit, debit, check, electronic benefits transfer, and a range of pre-paid products, including gift cards and loyalty programs.
