Visa Basics | This visa allows you to enter Australia and then marry your intended spouse - fiancé - within the visa's nine month validity period.  Note:  You can marry your fiancé either in or outside Australia, but you must notmarry before you make your first entry to Australia on the visa.You must: * be in a fiancé relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen * enter Australia before you marry your fiancé * genuinely intend to marry your fiancé * genuinely intend to live with your fiancé as husband and wife * be able to legally marry according to Australian law* have met your intended spouse in person (as adults).More information about eligibility | These visas allow you to enter and stay in Australia on the basis of marriage or a de facto relationship with your partner. De facto relationships include same-sex relationships. * You must be in a partner relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. *You apply for both a temporary and permanent visa by lodging one application. * You must not be in a relationship with an ancestor/descendent. * You and your partner must show a mutual and ongoing commitment to a shared life to the exclusion of all others.Applying on the basis of marriage: * Your marriage must be legal under Australian law.Applying on the basis of a de facto relationship:* Your de facto partner may be of the opposite or same sex as yourself. * You and your partner must be at least 18 years old when you apply. * You and your partner must have been in an ongoing and committed de facto relationship for the entire 12 months immediately prior to applying for the visa. Any periods of separation must only be temporary.
