Western Diet

The objective of the following Research Paper is to give an approach on the Western Diet by responding to the following questions:
1. What is the Western Diet?
2. Why is it questionable itssustainability?
3. What consequences could it produce?
4. Are there any alternatives?

WHAT IS THE WESTER DIET?
Even though some advantages of the Western Diet; it is essentially questionable becauseof the unhealthy ingredients and combination of them that compounds it. Those components are:
• Meat. Beef, pork, chicken and processed deli meats.
• Processed foods and snacks.
• Refined grains.Processed flours and carbohydrates have no nutritional value and produce a big effort of the bodies to process and absorb them.
• Sugar. Highly refined process sugar without nutritional value, it isas empty calorie.
• Unhealthy fats. Hydrogenated oil and trans fats have a significant presence on fast food and processed foods.
• Chemical and preservatives. Useful only to long goods life.
•Salt.
In summary; high level of energy, of saturated fat and salt, and low level of fibre are the main contributions of the Western Diet.
WHY IS IT QUESTIONABLE ITS SUSTAINABILITY?
On one hand,people from less benefited countries would like to access to a Western Diet due to the abundance and availability of food it has, rather than scarcity in their zones. Besides the apparently enviedunending resource, western consumers also value the Western Diet due to its saving time in preparation, low priced and convenience food.
On the other hand, people who feed of the Western Diet could sufferits consequences. “Typical Afghan civilians and soldiers would have been 140 pounds or so as adults.
