Women in the middle-east.

n many parts of the region, a substantial number. For example 83% of all Egyptian women have been harassed and almost half of all Egyptian women are harassed daily. 62%of Egyptian men also admit to sexually harassing women wearing headscarves. Similarly, 52% of married Yemen women were raped by their husbands while they were still children. Abuse and sexual assaultagainst women are common in the Islamic and Middle Eastern world.

Any country which allows female genital mutilation is a country where women are abused. Sadly this is still common in many Islamiccultures, especially in poorer areas with little education. 
Additionally, in Islamic culture it is often socially acceptable to kill girls and women who are suspected of "immoral behavior". this isdone to "preserve the family honor". What honor is there in this murderous behaviour? There was a case a few years ago where a girl was killed in her bed by her own mother because it turned out herbrother was raping her. Usually, though, this job falls on rhe brothers. Very sad, but true. 
hether the women are Muslims or not or in the middle east or not has nothing to do with it.. 

Islamprevents all sorts of harrasment of women (or men) or anyone for that matter as it preaches peace and tolerance e.g. the traditional kgreeting in Islam is (al salam alaykom WA rahmat ALLAH WA barakatoh) ;peace , God's mercy and blessing be upon you.. 

as for women's roles in the Islamic society ; they have rights and duties just like anyone in any religeon( please do not be fooled by somemisinformed people who claim that Islam encourages poor treatment of women...i am a Muslim woman(muslima) and i assure you i am in no way hassled or abused or maltreated :) 
the fact that some women areabused is a sad fact that has nothing to do with the religeon of the woman or the person harassing her
