Womens Rights
Health Right
Health is a fundamental human right indispensable for the practice of other rights. Like all, the right to health imposes on the State the obligation to respect, protectand facilitate the practice.
This also includes the sexual and reproductive health is an inclusive right wide, which covers not only health care but also timely and appropriate major social, economicand cultural determinants of health.
The right to health is recognized in the following instruments of international and national law.
■ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948, adopted in1959.
■ International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights 1966. Approved in 1978.
■ International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, 1965. Approved in1971.
■ Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, 1981. Approved in 1982.
■ Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1990. Approved in 1990.
■ Additional Protocol tothe American Convention on Human Rights in the Area of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, "Protocol of San Salvador" in 1988. Approved with Legislative Resolution.
* SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVERIGHTS
They are inseparable and indivisible part of the right to health and human rights. Its purpose is that all people can live free from discrimination, risks, threats, coercion and violence in thearea of sexuality and reproduction.
The State shall ensure that any person can: decide how many children will have to decide the spacing of children, regulate their sexual behavior according to theirown way of being, feeling and thinking without fear or shame, be free of diseases and deficiencies interfere with sexual and reproductive functions.
People should practice these rights responsibly,respecting the integrity, physical, mental and social development of others and take responsibility for the consequences of their sexual and reproductive behavior.
