After several years in London, Penny Hancock now lives in Cambridge with her husband and three children. She is a part-time primary school teacher at a speech and language school and has travelled extensively as a language teacher. “Tideline” is her first novel.

Fanella
Fanella is a single woman who loves children very much butunfortunately she is unable to give birth to a baby. She hopes to adopt a child with her boyfriend. However, her boyfriend leaves her for another woman. She is shock and sad. It means that she has to adopt a child alone, which seems hopeless. But she tries to face it and manage it by herself.
She finds her real happiness sincerely in her life. She knows how to get happiness, how to get come to herself andhow to be what she is. The part of her character that I like most is that she is able to be satisfied with what she has now. Throwing the over wanting away, she closes her eyes from the things she can't take at all. However, she doesn't lose her hands for what she really wants for her entire life. Rod marries Fanella finally. Ellie leaves with them and Fanella is pregnant
* Adoption problems(8): We have to think about the hard situation that she was coming through, she was really sad because she thought that she can adopt a child and we have to realize that actually it is very hard to adopt if you are a single women and you should work and also take care of your child and all the responsibility is on your shoulders that no one can help you are some things that social service takeaccount but because to be a father or a mother is not for anyone. 

* Moving on (21): After the hurricane comes the rainbow, after months of depression finally she find out how to move on to keep looking her dreams, she was making research about adoption and she finally was seeing things better that she used to because she was so hopeful about being a mother and she was making comparison about herlife in that moment and how was her life when she broke up with Steven 

* Over reacting (25): After she meet rob Fanella was in shock practically and she was over reacting about Rob’s good looking I think that Fanella was missing men company and we know that at the end of the story she have a happy ending with rob that we have to see that she was over reacting about him, maybe because shewas feeling alone, that she was depressed but first she has to focus on her because always after a broke up people are feeling alone and imagining things that they are not.
Rod
Rod loves children very much. And it is his love for children that encourages him to be a good teacher. He has a beautiful wife who dislikes children and refuses to have a baby. They have little in common yet they loveeach other. So at the beginning, Rod enjoys his life but finally he meets with trouble. He finds that his wife is kissing another man.
Dan is a naughty boy who is always starting fights. Although Rod is very patient, Dan doesn’t behave himself. What is more, Dan’s mother is very troublesome. She doesn’t like Rod and accuses him of hurting Dan; he is suspended until he is proved innocent in adisciplinary hearing
* Feminism (55): Rod was thinking that his situation and accusation was unfair he had been accused for something that he didn’t commit and only because he was a man, he know the reason of Dan injured he had fighted with another classmate an know he was telling a lie, rod had never hurt him and all this was Dan`s mother fault because she believe everything that Dan told her andshe didn’t realized that she was making a mistake.

* Finding a distraction (67): During his bad moment he find a distraction , he really like children and he decided that he want to make stories for them that was the way that he found to feel better because his wife wasn’t helping with his depression Because Dan and his mother accusation this was a relief .
