 2 Leonardo da Vinci nació en 1452.6 A los 14 años entró en el prestigioso taller del pintor florentino Andrea Verrochio, donde estudió junto a Sandro Botticelli y Perugino.7 Desarrolló el estudio de las matemáticas, la geometría, la perspectiva y todas lasciencias de la observación del medio natural,8 las cuales se consideraban indispensables en la época. Como educación complementaria,también estudió arquitectura e ingeniería.9 Leonardo fue un humanista renacentista, destacado en múltiples disciplinas.10 Sirvió a personas tan distintas e influyentes como Lorenzo de Médici, al duque de Sforza, a los soberanos deMantua y al rey Francisco I de Francia.8
Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452.6 At 14 he entered the prestigious workshop of the Florentine painter Andrea Verrocchio, where hestudied next to Sandro Botticelli and Perugino.7 developed the study of mathematics, geometry, perspective and all of the observation lasciencias wild, eight of which are considered essential at the time. 4 La pintura fue elaborada, para su patrón, el duque Ludovico Sforza de Milán. No es un fresco tradicional, sino un mural ejecutado al templey óleo sobre dos capas de preparación de yeso extendidas sobre enlucido. Mide 460 cm de alto por 880 cm de ancho. Muchos expertos e historiadores del arte, consideran a La última cena como una de las mejores obraspictóricas del mundo.5
The painting was made for his patron Duke Ludovico Sforza of Milan. Not a traditional fresco, a mural executed but the templey oil on two layers of plaster over extended preparation plaster. It measures 460 cm high by 880 cm wide. Many experts and art historians, consider The Last Supper as one of the best paintings of world.5


5 La gran fama de ésta obra ha despertado elinterés de muchos investigadores y también de algunos novelistas que buscan resolver los supuestos misterios y enigmas que la rodean, por ejemplo Clive Prince y Lynn Picknett en su libro La revelación templaria y Dan Brown en su novela El código Da Vinci afirman que la figura a la derecha de Jesús(izquierda según se mira), no es en realidad Juan, sino una figura femenina,2 5 las múltiples obras dearte que se han inspirado en el cuadro y las parodias existentes contribuyen a convertir a La última cena en una de las obras más magníficas en la Historia del Arte.

The great fame of this work has attracted the interest of many researchers and some novelists who seek to solve the mysteries and enigmas surrounding circumstances, such Clive Prince and Lynn Picknett in his book The TemplarRevelation and Dan Brown in his novel Da Vinci Code claim that figure to Jesus' right (left as viewed), is not actually John, but a female figure, May 2 the many works of art that have been inspired by the painting and existing parodies help the Last Supper turn in one of the most magnificent works in the history of Arte.
