CUANDO LEAS ESTA CARTA
Puede que cuando leas esta carta, estemos ya en el avión. Nos vamos a Roma a visitar Sant’Ivo della Sapienza. ¡No dejes de ir a ver el Centro deSalud! Hablaremos a la vuelta.( Pd.: ¡Escribe tu también hacia atrás la palabra Roma! )El espacio que veo desde la ventanilla es tan uniforme que lo ignoro, necesito un plano, una linea, un punto…, para percibir el vacio; (es curioso) solo a partir de ahí puedo empezar a mirar lo que no esta,… y quizas sea esto también lo más heróico de los sentimientos…Es desde el vacio, desde la misma cesura, odesde la misma traza que divide la ciudad en llenos y vacios, desde donde se genera este edificio.Hay puntos de partida que desde el inicio llevan asociadas una serie de ideas que fluyen entrelazadas. La idea de cesura nos conduce a los espacios activos. La necesidad de recorrido lleva asociada la recomposición posterior, la continuidad de espacios, al matiz, al contraste, la alternancia, la luz, ala incorporación de los ciclos naturales, a la atmósfera.Luego viene la autenticidad que hay en todas las obras que buscan una verdad, la fidelidad que mantiene a sí mismo el pensamiento en las diferentes escalas. Todas estas palabras están en el Centro de Salud. Veremos otros cuerpos con la misma piel, pero la acumulación de impresiones, la experiencia real, las sensaciones, las atmosferas, losmatices, son intrasferibles.Dicen algunos escritores que los libros se escriben para salvar matices que de otra manera se perderían para siempre, una mirada en un tren que anunciaba el primer beso en la terraza de un hotel, una sonrisa llena de ternura que arranco el recuerdo y que nadie vio…Mientras tanto, nosotros intentamos hacer redes con las palabras para capturar la arquitectura, y ellasiempre permanecera quieta reflejandonos como un espejo.Armando Sempere

By the time you read this letter we’ll probably be on the plane. We’re off to Rome to see Sant’Ivo della Sapienza. You have just got to go and see the Health Centre! I’ll talk to you when we get back.(By the way, try writing the word Roma backwards).The space I see from the window isso uniform I ignore it. I need a plan, a line, a point... to see the emptiness; (it’s odd) it’s only then that I can start to watch what isn’t there, ... and that may well be the most heroic thing about feelings...Out of emptiness, out of the caesura itself, or out of the line that divides the city into full spaces and empty spaces, that’s where this building is generated.There are startingpoints that right from the beginning are associated with a series of ideas that interweave as they flow. The idea of the caesura leads us to active spaces. The need for a route is associated with its subsequent recomposition, with the continuity of spaces, nuance, contrast, alternation, light, the incorporation of natural cycles, the atmosphere.Then there’s the authenticity that all the works that tryto find a truth have, the faithfulness of thought to itself on all the different levels. All these words are there in the Health Centre. We may see other bodies with the same skin but the accumulation of impressions, the real experience, the feelings, the atmospheres and the nuances can’t be transferred.Some writers say that books are written to preserve nuances that would otherwise be lostforever: a look on a train that foretold the first kiss on a hotel terrace, a tender smile at a memory that nobody saw...Meanwhile, we try to make nets out of words to capture architecture and architecture will always stay still and reflect us like a mirror.Armando Sempere
