Critiques of Education

Three authors present in their essays the worry for the libertinage young people have regarding the education. Asseen by Paulo Freire essay, he thinks that teachers are the responsible of how young people face the education since they are the ones responsible for young people intellectual education. Golding andFreire have almost the same thinking. They think that because of the contradictions of the teachers, the students have a problem with education today. Mark Bauerlein opinion states that young peoplefrom the ages between 18 and 24 years do not like to read, due to the fact that technology has evolved human thinking to an automated way. Examples of this theory are the internet, television and videogames, among others. As part of the essay, the author also presents to ,us the fact that humans and present young adult people learn thinking skills using a machine. Golding does not agree at allwith Bauerlein. William Golding establishes three levels of thinking, different from each other, and therefore, each level determines how humans can reach the solution of a conflict or work other aspectsof the human being. Golding states that people have a choice to learn or not to learn, to be or not to be.

William Golding’s reading contains a clear design of the problem that teachers, studentsand society are passing thru. He looks very concern about how “grownups never made sense” (Golding 184). According to Golding “grownups” are in a constant contradiction. Golding states the teachersare full of unconscious prejudice, ignorance and hypocrisy (185). This is what he calls “Grade-Three Thinking”, it is feeling rather than thought (185). He later talks about the contradictions of the“Grade-Two Thinkers”.
