Deportes en irlanda.
El deporte nacional es sin duda el Rugby, pero el tipo inglés, no el que vemos en las películas americanas, aquí juegan sin protecciones y con uniformes como los de nuestro fútbol, al rugby le llaman Football y al fútbol que todos conocemos en España le llaman Soccer.
También tienen el llamado Gaelic Football que es una mezcla entre Soccer y Rugby, bastante especial.nació en el siglo XVI y donde
Otro deporte bastante extendido en Irlanda es el Golf, montones de campos de golf por toda la isla y aficionados por doquier, conocen mejor a los golfistas españoles que nosotros mismos.
Practicar deporte en Irlanda suele ser bastante caro, ya que el registrarse en clubs y gimnasios tiene precios muy altos.
Mucha gente suele salir a correr y el uso de la bicicleta estámuy extendido, ya sea para hacer deporte o como medio de transporte. Deporte tradicional irlandes. Una pelota,llamada sliothar compuesta de corcho y forrada de cuero, se coge con el hurley, camán, o stick, donde debe ser transportada hasta la porteria. La mitología irlandesa nos cuenta historias sobre un guerrero llamado Cuchulainn y otros heroes legendarios expertos jugadores de Hurling. Las reglas del juego no se estandarizan hasta 1884, cuando se funda la Gaelic Athletic Association. Actualmente eldeporte solo se juega en la República de Irlanda, donde la liga de campeones "All-Ireland" sse juega desde 1887.
El hurling se juega entre dos equipos de 15 jugadores, en un terreno de juego de 82 metros de ancho por 137 mentros de longitud. El hurley es un stick de aproximadamente 1 metro de largo, acabado en curva y con unos 8 cm de grosor y pesa entre 100 y 130 gramos. Las porterias en ambosextremos del terreno de juego suelen ser de 6 metros de alto, 6 metros de separación entre palos y unidas a la altura de 2 metros.
El fin de este deporte es colocar la pelota (sliothar) en el sctick (hurley), transportarla en él hasta arrojarla en la porteria y marcar gol. El sliothar no puede llevarse en las manos por más de 4 pasos. El jugador debe sujetar el stick (huley) con su manos y corrercon la pelota en el stick sin perderla. 3 puntos se reflejan en el marcador cuando la pelota pasa por la linea de puntos.
