Type 1 injection
Type 2 metformin
Lifestyle changes
Diet changes
Weight loss
Types of foods that help
Exercise (cardio)
Alternative medicine
Acupuncture
Herbs (commontypes)
Medications (drugs) ex.
Synthetic insulin

Synthetic human insulin isn’t perfect.
New types of insulin
Type 2patient become insulin resistant in the long run.
Treatment in the united states compared to other countries
What is the best treatment for type 1
For type 2
Alternative treatment

How do treatments work.

Type 1
Beta cell in the pancreas
The immune system destroys beta cells
Taking insulin injection: normalizes sugar levels.
Insulin monitoring
A healthy lifestyle
Type 2
exerciserequire regular monitoring
Self monitored blood glucose test
Finger prick blood glucose test
Urine glucose test
Urine ketone test
treatment to maintain normal blood sugar levels.
Blood sugar control is the main goal of the treatment.
Metformin : improves body’s response to insulin
Insulin injections provide the body with insulin to process glucose

Patients live longer than they did in the past.
Requires treatment for the rest of a person life
Prognosis is good in the short term
Diabetes is among the leading causes of death in U.S.
Avrg. Life years lost is 14
People I know who have diabetes
