Didactic Materials
Teaching a language is a difficult task although teachers can support their classes with a variety of resources that facilitates the languagelearning process in a successful way called didactic materials. It is important to mention that all the classes are heterogeneous therefore teachers need to takeinto account many aspects before they choose their materials such as interests, ages, and learning styles of their students.
For making easier the materialselection process they have been divided into three categories: audio, visual, and internet support. This division can help teachers to select the materials accordingto the lesson and the skill they want to develop.
First, audio aids are tools specially designed for developing listening skill, for example, radio, music, taperecorders, and CD´s. Second, visual aids are any resource that students and teachers use for teaching real language. For example, video tapes, series, andmovies. Third, internet support is one of the most important tools that teachers use because it is related to technology that is why it catches the students´ attention, and also with the use of internet students can develop the four skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening, but also grammar which is a sub-skill.
As aconclusion, didactic materials are a very important tool for the development of the class because they support teachers in the lesson and they are a visualstimulation for students. As future English teachers, we have to be aware when we make decisions about the types of materials that would be appropriate for our classes.
