Cinematography, classified as the seventh art, has been present for more than a hundred years. Cinematography has been incorporated into many world cultures, as an art whose main purpose is to entertain all kinds of people.
Since its beginning, making a film has never been easy, but as time passes and technology advances, a filmmaker can, with low resources and a great idea, create extraordinaryproductions that can only be visualized through cinematography. To make a successful movie, filmmakers must follow an organized procedure that includes a good story, great acting and interesting photography.
The procedure to be followed to make a movie is not absolutely necessary, yet, is recommended. As in any art, every filmmaker has his very own style, and sometimes the initiative in making amovie can come from anywhere. It is very common to start with the script after a filmmaker sees or experiences something that he/she finds inspiring for a good story. But before writing the script from beginning to end, there are many details to consider. It is therefore important to have a good view of the story you want to tell; but it should not be fully established, and the creator must beopen to changes. First, before starting to write, a filmmaker must consider the resources he/she has and what he can get. It is necessary to consider what he is are able to do with the story, where he is able to film, special effects he is able to use, and actors that can be hired.
Once a filmmaker has a basic idea for the story, it is highly recommended to write the end of the story first, so heis a fixed path to follow. According to Hayden (2009), “One of the best ways to write a story is to plan the major plot elements before beginning to write the story. Many times when a writer begins to write a story from the beginning, he may not know where he is heading which makes it difficult to finish the story with a strong ending”. The ending is the most important part of a story; whether seenin a movie or read in a book, the final scene will be remembered. When there is a strong finish that’s well planned, with a story that unfolds to get to that point the end result is more satisfactory. It is always best to write simple stories, something that the public can easily identify or understand; when the story is very complicated it is never well received by everyone because not allpeople understand the meaning. “In an effort to give their stories depth, many writers confuse complicated plot lines for complexity. They are not the same. When talking about plots and characters, complicated means confusing. Complex means intricate and interesting.” (Wallace)
The characters in the story have to be alive and the audience should always be able to relate the main character. How doeshe/she behave? What does he/she like? How does he/she looks like? And the character’s personal data should be like the one of a real person. It is very important to know every detail of the characters, so it is easier to imagine how the character will behave in certain situations or when interacting with other characters.
The story always develops with a major conflict in which the characters areaffected and have to solve it. The story starts there and that situation is what will keep viewers watching the movie until the end. According to Jerz:

Conflict produces tension that makes the story begin. Tension is created by opposition between the character or characters and internal or external forces or conditions. By balancing the opposing forces of the conflict, you keep readers glued tothe pages wondering how the story will end. (2009)
Once you have written the story with a catchy beginning, a trivial conflict, an exciting climax and a strong ending, you must convert the story into a script, and visualize the scenes. Visualization is very important to do: making a list of how are you filming the scenes to tell the story, with pictures and explanations. It is a script-like...
