“Lord of the Flies” by William Golding.

Rationale:

The reason of choosing Piggy’s diary entry is because I think he’s an important character in the plot,aware of almost everything happening in the island until the day of his death. His importance is shown in his personality, he is like the woman of the group, the one with feelings and cold thoughts, heseems intelligent but not enough to be a leader, that keeps him out of any egocentric trouble for being the leader, contrary to Jack’s and Ralph’s attitude. It is a very important character with animportant roll in the “society” formed after the plane crash.
The other reason is because I am going to star him in the class play and it is a good way to know my character.
Despite other options ofwork, the diary entry seems to be the most interesting, as a way to get to know a character, geting into his thoughts and feelings, based on his attitudes written and described in the novel.

Piggy’sDiary Entry:

My name doesn’t matter now, from now on I am Piggy, and here I am going to write my life in this island, where the plane crashed.
If someone can read this, it means they have rescue usfrom this island or we are all dead and the rescuers came too late. I don’t know how to feel, I’m afraid but I know I need to survive.

The plane crashed here, I´m pretty sure that it is isolated.The last thing I remember is waking up next to Ralph, I thought we were the only one, then he had a wonderful idea with the conch we found, get all the survivors together with its sound. We were allthere, Ralph, Jack, Simon and I are the oldest, we are the BIGUNS, we are in charge. The conch is used as a permission to speak, the one who holds it deserves respect and shall be heard. The conch isthe real boss.

Ralph is our leader. Jack is in charge of the hunting party, which responsibilities are bringing food and maintaining the signal fire.
