Mr. Markus Zucar
Dear sir

Im a student at the tenth grade in Colegio San Agustin, Cabo Rojo , PR. Recently we had to present a proyect on our English class base on your novel “ The Book Thief” . I think that our teacher did a very good choice when she assigned us to read of that novel. I think that a gratulation for your work is in orden. I like it very much.Beside learning English I learned about a lot of others things. Like, for example world war I and II history. I also learned about humans relations, about families and their norms and habits, how people dealth when they are under stress situation. Your character were very human. I could felt their courage, loyalty, and love. Liesel , Hans , Rudy, and Max are fantastic role models. Also, Rosa, thestep mother , that at beginning seems to be a rude person and mother.
There where scenes full of tension like when the police searched Max basement; the scenes when they encre at the shelter during the raids; the scenes when almost all the people was hit by the bombers a so far.
The book that Max wrote to give as a Christmas present for Liese was very touching way of expressing hergrakefullmers for the love all the people had for him including Liesel.
It call my attention the narrator of the plot : the angel of the death. He was always watching to take souls with. He was very jealous of his responsibility, but he also felt tired because he had too many work. He felt “haunted by humans”. In a way he felt human too. He had some kind of prejudice for the souls he treated. He was verykind to the souls of the children. He took those souls in his arms like loving parent. Others souls were carried as bags on his shoulder.
Mr. Zucar I am going to read the book again. Im sure I will learn something else in that reading .

God Bless you,Sincerily ,
Jonathan L. Becerra Lopez

Hans Hubermann’s diary

I choose to write a dairy thinking I am Hans Huberman. In this novel Hans not the principal character. It is Liesil. But I think that Hans is a strong character, full of charisma who higly helps in the development ofhis foster child Liesil.

_________ Today arrived our foster child Liesil. She is about nine years old. Obviously she was sacre. Trace talked to us about the previous hunting experience of this child. First he is younger brother died and she saw how he was buried in the snow. And now she was going to be held apart from her mother and probably she does not know the reason for that. So, it was logic for the child to refuse to get out of the car. She was afraid. It look a while to coax her out of the car. Finally I convince her. But again she refuse to enter the house tried extending my hand to her as an invitation. She finally came in. She refuse to take a bath. I thought it was better not to push her. So I sit near hear and I asked of she had ever roll a cigarette.I play with her about and hour and finally she seems mora at ease.

1939 Two weeks had passed since Liesil;s arrival. Today she took her first bath.
Rosa asked Liesil to call her mama when she adrres her. I am sure she had no problem calling me Papa. I know she was feeling better.

/May/1939 I heard Liesil screaming. She had frequent nightmares but tonightsomething more happened, she wet her bed. The incident makes her cried. I run to his room and told her. I told her that these things happened ocasually to boys and girls. I took her from the bed to the bathroom. I took the sheets of the bed off; something drops to the floor. It was a black book tittle “The Grave Diggers Hand Book”. I invite her to read the book with me. I wash the sheets and hang then...
