National English Program
Purpose for Cycle 4: to consolidate ths S’s proficiency in English in basiccommunicative situations and develop specific competencies particular to social practices of the language within a range of communicative situations in which they understand and produce in oral andwritten. Students are expected to: identify the main idea and some details in short oral/written texts, understand and use information from different textual resources, express some judgements andopinions about issues, edit their own writings, use grammar, spelling and punctuation conventions, participate in formal communicative situations, keep communictaion flowing, identify breakdowns and usestrategic resources to repair it when necessary.
The purpose of foreign language teaching in basic is for students to get the necessary knowledge to engage in oral and written social practices ofthe language to interact with native and nonnative English speakers.
Teaching guidelines: Planning communicative situations, kind and amount of learning contents, number of lessons devoted to theplanned communicatibe situations
Assessment: in the cycle 1 does not involve promotion and should be characterized by being: Global, Continuos, Formative.
Content organization: the object ofstudy of the English, the social practices, the curriculum contents, suggestions for actions to make a product, the proposal of Achievement of each Unit.
