Midterm Exam Essay

I’ve read a lot of true stories from people whom survived to the Holocaust. But the book called “Night” by Elie Wiesel has the most powerful andpainful content. It’s the story of a boy who in order to save his life had to act as an adult, in that way he lost innocence. Little by little he also began to lose his faith and hope. TheHolocaust changed totally his life and fate. At his early age he faced hard situations, such as confront his father’s death and family separation. Eliezer’s story is clear manifestation of courageand I don’t describe it as a tragedy, on the contrary his impressionist desire to protect his father was unique.

Eliezer was capable to put in risk his life for his father one. Healways was taking care of him. However life made him to take one of the hardest decisions, which was to protect himself or his father’s. I do believe that innocence isn’t an impediment for survival. He lost his innocent, but he had the ability and the capacity to survive. In spite of the fact that he ended alone, he always maintained a positive mind.

According to the Jews, Ibelieve that they were too innocent. They didn’t analyze Hitler’s ideas. Probably they were desperate and thought that whoever came to help them has a good proposal. However the fact is that Hitlerwasn’t an admirable person. He didn’t have bravery to tell them his intensions. He didn’t value their lives. He didn’t feel their suffering and pain. He treated them with cruelty and no onecould applaud his actions.

Eliezer’s story has an unforgettable message of pain. The Jews were really unlucky. Hitler was a devil man who doesn’t deserve mercy. Many children lost theirinnocence and faith, due to that the others made them to grow up fast. The bad thing is that they didn’t have another choice. And that nothing could change that terrific part of the history.
