Book Report “Oliver Twist”

Characters:
Oliver Twist: An orphan and poor boy who lived in a workhouse. The novel’s protagonist.
Fagin: a criminal and kidnapper. He took children from the streets to steal from others.
Nancy: a disturbed girl, who has big morality and feels sorry for Oliver. She also loves Bill Sikes.
Mr. Brownlow: a gentleman who “adopts” Oliver from the first time.
BillSikes: one of the chief thieves of the gang.
Rose Maylie: A compassionate young woman who
Plot: A Young orphan boy who doesn’t know anything about his family, and with help of his friends he founds our about his identity.

Oliver twist was born on a little town, brought to the world by a parish doctor and an old woman named Sally. The mother of the child died just after she saw and kissed herboy. No body knew where she was from, some persons found her on the street. After that, Sally sent the boy to a baby farm, where he stayed until he turned nine. The, he was sent to a workhouse where he suffered of pain and hunger. One day, Oliver asked for more food, the guardians got mad and tried to sell him. In the end he was sold to Mr. Snowberry. There, Mr. Snowberry told Oliver to go with himto the funerals, and he agreed. Noah Claypole was mad because Oliver had taken his position, so he treated him as bad as possible. One day Noah insulted Oliver’s mother so he got mad and started a fight. Mrs. Snowberry saw this and beat Oliver up. Mr. Snowberry did the same to please his wife. That night, he cried, grabbed his things, then left.
In 70 miles to London, Oliver was very tired andhungry. Then, he saw a boy named Jack Dawkins “the artful Dodger” who bought him food and offered a home of his friend. When they arrived, Oliver noticed it was a nasty, horrible place, but he stayed there. Then, the Dodger introduced him to Fagin, the owner of the place, who gave him supper and a bed to sleep. The next morning, Oliver was half-asleep, when Fagin opened a box filled with preciousjewelry. When Fagin noticed that Oliver was looking at him, he got furious, but then he explained to Oliver, that those were his, which seemed suspicious to Oliver. After eating breakfast, a young girl named Nancy came into the place, and conduced Dodger, Charley Bates and Oliver to work. Once they were near a bookstore, he saw how the tree others went by a man and stole his handkerchief. Oliver,confused, started running too, and since the man noticed his handkerchief was gone he blamed Oliver for the robbery. A few more hours later, on the police station a worker of the bookstore said Oliver wasn’t responsible for the robbery, but another boy. So they set Oliver free, who a few minutes later fainted. Mr. Brownlow, the man of the stolen handkerchief saw Oliver on the floor and he advisedthe others.
After that, Mr. Brownlow took Oliver in his house and treated him very kindly. He and his wife noticed that Oliver was very alike to the girl on a painting behind him.
Dodger and Charley Bates arrived with Fagin, when he noticed that Oliver was gone, he got furious and started fighting with them. Just then, a tall man named Bill Sikes asked about what was going on. After theyexplained him everything, he ordered Nancy, the Dodger, and Charley Bates to search for him until they found him.
When Oliver got better, Mr. Brownlow called him, and asked him about his story. Oliver started telling him about the baby farm when Mr. Grimwig, a friend of Mr. Brownlow, entered the house. He didn’t like the boy very well. Then, a boy from the bookstore came with some books, but Mr. Brownlowwanted to send back others, so he sent Oliver to the bookstore. When he was on his way, Nancy and Bill Sikes grabbed him, and forced him to go “home” with them.
When Oliver arrived to Fagin’s house, he tried to hurt him, but Nancy didn’t let them. so Oliver was locked in a dark room where he stayed more than a week. From time to time, the Dodger and Charley Bates came to tell him stories about...
