For Resume Builder versions: 1.0.1 and 1.0.1 w

Program Versions

There are two versions of the Resume Builder available:

• Word 97/2000 version (smaller – 300K, requires Microsoft Word with macros enabled)
• Standalone EXE version (larger – 2.2M, does not require Microsoft Word)

The programs are identical, butthe setup is different. References are made to the two versions where there is a difference.

About this Document

This document is a User’s Manual for the CareerLink Resume Builder. It contains information on using the service and instructions on using the program. Please print this document so it is available to you when you are running the program.

Introduction

TheCareerLink Resume Builder (CRB) is a application that builds a text file based on a user’s information, which will be used to create a resume. The Resume Builder will only work using on computers using Microsoft Windows95 or later, and WindowsNT. A form should automatically appear, if it does not appear, refer to the troubleshooting section of this document, or the Readme.txt that came withthis file. The form contains fields for the user to enter in all the information normally given on a resume, in addition to extra fields that help potential employer’s search for resumes. After completely filling out the fields in the Resume Builder, it will create a text file in the same location/directory as the Resume Builder program file. The program displays the full path name ofthe created file when it has been built. Please take note of this location. The file is named “rsxxxxxx.txt” where the “xxxxxx" is the first six digits of you PMI Id Number, with leading zeros if necessary. If you have access to the Internet, please attach this file to an email addressed to "careerhq@pmi.org". If you do not have access to the Internet, you can mail the file to PMI onan IBM formatted floppy disk to:

This file will be stored and distributed as a professionally created resume to interested employers. PMI makes every attempt to keep all sensitive information private andconfidential. If you have any questions about using the Resume Builder, please call PMI at (610) 356-4600 ext. 1027.

User Interface

Standalone Version:

The installation program for the Resume Builder created an icon for the program under the Start menu. Find it at: Start | Programs | PMI | Resume Builder. Run the program from there. (The default directory for the actual installationis “C:\Program Files\PMICareerLink”, although you may have specified another location.)

Document Version

Find the document called ResBuild.doc at the location you placed it when received or downloaded the file from PMI. Double-click on it from the Windows explorer.

A form automatically appears when the program/document it opened, if it did not, please refer to theTroubleshooting section at the end of this document. The form that opens is multi-tabbed, each tab containing more fields to be entered. Make sure you enter all fields before attempting to build the resume file. When the form loads, the first tab is shown below. At any time you need help on a tab, clicking the button will load a small form with a description of the tab. Also, the buttondeletes all the information you have entered on that particular tab.
