METHODOLOGY OF STUDY FORT HE THREE LEVELS

The subjects for conversation and for reading will be chosen according to the student’s interests.
The subjects for listening will be selectedamong daily issues in the media (television and radio), songs, films and other materials.
Every class will begin with dialogues, comments, readings and the study of the grammar regarding the daily news.
The material given to the students for reading purposes is based on literature written by argentine authors.

OBJECTIVE

On the Spanish course the students will learn to communicate effectivelyin Spanish, both orally and in writing, will understand what has been said by others, will study all aspects of the Spanish language like grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, phonetics, spelling and will acquire general knowledge of the socio-cultural and economic reality of our country, Argentina.

SYLLABUS

BEGINNER LEVEL

Reading Comprehension

At the end of this level, the student willbe able to understand short and simple texts about current and concrete subjects (personal and business letters, traffic and advertising signs, posters, etc) and will be prepared to find specific information in daily and simple situations.

Writing

At the end of this level, the student will have the capacity to compose brief and simple texts about different aspects of the daily life andwithin the family environment as well as within educational and social situations such as postcards, letters, messages, forms, etc. The student will learn conjunctions and will be able to write a story or make a description.

Oral Expression and Listening Comprehension

The student will acquire the competence to express himself/herself and follow conversations and simple debates of the daily life.Besides, the student will be able to understand the television and radio broadcast and everyday messages and exchanges such us giving and receiving directions to places.

The student will learn to:

● Greet or salute.
● Request and provide personal information and take part in introductions.
● Locate things and give directions on how to get to places.
● Describe places: houses,neighborhoods and cities.
● Describe people by their physical appearance and personality.
● Describe objects.
● Talk about habits and their frequency.
● Make comparisons.
● Talk about physical and emotional states.
● Talk about feelings and emotional states.
● Talk on the phone.
● Arrange appointments.
● Request and give the time and talk about timetables or schedules.
● Formal communication: makereservations, thank for services and say goodbye (written and oral).
● Talk about likes and preferences. Express different degrees of preference. Show interest, apathy and indifference.
● Make suggestions. Introduce ideas. Make hypothesis.
● Express agreement and disagreement.
● Express cause.
● Express conditions.
● Express necessity.
● Offer and request help.
● Interact in bars, shops,markets and restaurants.
● Talk about clothes and fashion and interact in a clothes shop.
● Talk about professions.
● Talk about plans and projects.
● Suggest activities, make invitations and react to events.
● Evaluate activities and course work.
●Talk about the past:
1) Talk about actions in the past in relation to the present.
2) Talk about habitual actions in the past.
3) Describeexperiences, people and places in the past.
4) Write stories in the past.
5) Tell stories in the past.
6) Narrate experiences in the past, relating them to each other.
