AN OVERVIEW OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
A Project is a multitask job that has performance, cost, time, and scope requirements and that is done only one time.
Ifit is repetitive, it is not a project. A project is a problem scheduled for solution.
I must caution that the word problem typically has a negative meaning,and projects deal with both positive and negative kids of problems.
PROJECT FAILURES
One year, the united states spent an aggregate of more than 250 billionon software development, so this means that 80 billion was completely lost on canceled projects.
The reason for this failures is consistently found to beinadequate project planning.
If they decline, then we could argue that management must have been doing something positive; if they improve, then management hasclearly been getting in the way.
WHAT IS PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project management Is facilitating the planning, scheduling, and controlling of all activitiesthat must be done to achieve project objectives.
The first rule of project management is that the people who must do the work should help plan it. The role ofthe project manage is that of an enabler.
Leadership is the art of getting others to want to do something that you believe should be done.
NOT JUST SCHEDULINGOne of the common misconceptions about project management is that it is just scheduling.
The features of scheduling software are such that most people don’tlearn the subtleties by themselves.
